The Orientation and Mobility (O&M) program provides individuals who are blind or visually impaired with the essential skills needed to travel safely, confidently, and independently. Through personalized instruction, participants learn effective techniques for navigating their homes, moving throughout their communities, and even traveling long distances with greater ease and assurance.

Training focuses on building practical, realworld mobility skills, including:

  • Safely crossing streets and navigating intersections
  • Using public transportation systems
  • Understanding environmental cues and landmarks
  • Developing effective route planning and problemsolving strategies
  • Building confidence in unfamiliar environments

O&M instruction empowers individuals to move through daily life without fear or frustration. By mastering these skills, participants gain the freedom to travel independently, engage more fully with their surroundings, and experience a renewed sense of autonomy.
